Thick moss on roof tiles holds rain like a sponge. That adds weight to the roof and can crack tiles when the water freezes in winter. Clumps of moss also fall into gutters and downpipes and block them.
Roof tiles should never be jet washed at high pressure. It strips off the protective surface and can force water under the tiles into the loft.
We use a soft-wash approach instead. Shaped scrapers on telescopic carbon-fibre poles remove heavy moss from the ground or from a scaffold tower. We then apply a biocide wash that soaks into the tiles and kills the remaining spores, which helps keep growth away for years.
